The research is a pilot project that seeks to devise an evaluation tool to measure the impact of Development Education interventions delivered in the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) on student teachers' capacity to engage with development issues and integrate them into their teaching. The research investigates student teachers' perceptions of their professional role as a teacher, measured at various intervals throughout the PDE.
The study uses the Professional Role Orientation Inventory (Bebeau et al 1993), a survey instrument developed to assess individuals' commitment to privilege professional values over personal values, assessed across four dimensions:
